This compares wording, not meaning. A high score means the source plausibly supports the answer; it does not prove it. A low score is the useful signal — it means the answer contains material the cited page never mentions.
What the result means
A number that is not in the source is the loudest signal
Prose can be paraphrased and still be true. A figure cannot. If the answer says 60% and the cited page never contains 60, the model produced that number itself.
Citation presence is not citation accuracy
Every vendor shows a link. The link proves a page was retrieved, not that the page supports the sentence above it. Those are different claims and only one is tested.
Word overlap is evidence, not proof
This compares wording. A high score means the source plausibly supports the answer. Treat a low score as the finding — it means material appeared from somewhere else.
Test the questions your content answers badly
Citations look perfect on questions your documentation covers well. Point this at the thin areas, which is where a decorative citation actually appears.
